Description
A medical leech, used in by gone era of medicine where blood letting was done to remove the "Bad blood". Today,leech finds use in management of Gangrene of Limbs. As leech feeds it injects into its host a potent anticoagulant which prevents the blood from clotting. A deviant method of punishment in hell, described in Hindu "Garuda puranam", is reserved for sinners who suck blood of innocent and poor people, death by being fed to hungry Leeches, "Krimi-Bhojanam=Food of the insects".
